The Board of Regents has issued a new policy regarding effective January 1, 2024.

All benefits-eligible (fiscal or academic year) faculty positions, with an FTE of 0.50 or greater, are required to go through the competitive recruitment process.  Limited-term appointments may go through a modified recruitment process to allow for selected applicants to be hired through the job opening process. Limited Term positions may be posted for 3 days (if the candidate has been previously identified) or for a longer period to allow for a pool of applicants to select from.  Previous faculty appointments, which were considered an exception to recruitment (e.g. Postdoctoral Fellow to an Assistant Research Scientist or a Resident in their final year to an Instructor-Limited Term), will be posted internally as a Qualified Internal Candidate (QIC).

• Full-time (1.00 FTE)- Competitive recruitment (full search) is required for a minimum of 30 days (about 4 and a half weeks). Positions will be posted on the 麻豆国产AV Faculty Careers website and externally by using Job Elephant. Departments are encouraged to post to industry-specific sites, but approval must be obtained by Faculty Support Services and Supply Management.
• Full-time (1.00 FTE) Qualified Internal Candidate (QIC)- Position will be posted for a minimum of 3 days on the 麻豆国产AV Faculty Careers website only. Candidate must be currently active and full-time (1.0 FTE) to be eligible for QIC recruitment.
• Full-time (1.00 FTE) Limited Term- A job opening request is required to hire an individual for a limited-term appointment. Limited Term positions can be posted for a minimum of 3 days (for an identified candidate) or 30 days (about 4 and a half weeks) to allow external applicants to apply based on the need of the department. This classification will normally be used in the case where a full search is being conducted and an individual is being hired to meet the immediate need(s) of the department. Limited Term appointments are for an initial year and can be extended one additional year if necessary (not to exceed two academic/fiscal years). Positions will be posted on the 麻豆国产AV Faculty Careers website as well as externally by using Job Elephant. Departments are encouraged to post to industry-specific sites, but approval must be obtained by Faculty Support Services and Supply Management.

• Part-time (0.50 - 0.99 FTE)- Competitive recruitment is required due to benefits eligibility. Part-time, non-benefits eligible, and clinical/adjunct (non-paid) faculty appointments do not require competitive recruitment and will be processed via the SmartHR transaction. The appropriate faculty appointment checklist should be utilized.

Departments must send the full job ad as well as the posting site to Faculty Support Services (FSS) by using this email address: HUMANRESOURCES_FACULTYSUPPORTSVCS@augusta.edu. Once FSS has approved the ad, contact 麻豆国产AV Supply Chain Management-Purchasing to secure approval if using the P-card.
